Developed a federally funded program of research in which I developed, tested, and applied innovative techniques for answering questions related to prevention science; taught methods and statistics for undergraduates and graduate students. My students were the bread and butter to my work and I'm so proud of them I sometimes find myself bursting with pride and joy in them years later. Still reading, huh? Thanks for sticking with me. If you're thinking of leaving the tenure track, and you need an ear, I'm in. I get so many DMs from academics in the contemplation stage, that I set aside 'office hours' just to listen and help where I can. This is *not* part of my business, so no fees there. This was a multi-institutional training grant to learn advanced techniques in prevention research methods. I learned the ins and outs of mediation analysis from one of the best methodologists and nicest humans on earth, David MacKinnon at Arizona State University. I also was on the receiving end of incredible wisdom about risk behavior prevention from Nick Ialongo at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Nick is also nice, but his gift to us all is his sense of humor. :-) I owe a great deal to these two, and I try to harness their styles when I mentor young investigators.
