Teach Advanced Med/Surg- Critical Care and Emergency Nursing Theory to BSN nursing students in an accelerated 3-year pre-licensure program.Serve as Clinical Instructor to students for Critical Care, Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical specialties. I have worked with multiple Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in clinical with students in 8 - 10 hospitals throughout the LA/ Orange County area.

Worked at Hoag Hospital for 24 years as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS):1990 - 2006: Served 16 years as Critical Care CNS for CCU/ CVICU, Sub-ICU- Intermediate Care Unit and Cardiac Telemetry Units.2006 - 2011: Served 6 years as dedicated CNS for the New Graduate RN Program- educated and clinically supported approximately 100 new graduate RNs hired each year to various hospital units throughout the hospital. Excellent new graduate RN retention.2011 - 2014: Served as the CNS and Educator for the 58-bed Emergency Department (ED) clinical staff. Additional responsibilities:Facilitated performance improvement opportunities impacting the emergency department directly- served as SuperUser to transition ED from paper charting to Electronic Health Record (EHR) in the ED; Co-lead cost -savings program hospital-wide to Reducing Blood Culture Contaminations Served on multiple committees impacting improvement in patient care and outcomes: Acute Myocardial Infarction Care Improvement Committee; Nursing Policy and Procedure Committee; Clinical Practice Council; Nursing Research Council; Advanced Practice Nursing Council; Sepsis Care Improvement Committee; Stroke Committee and Nursing Education Committee.Additional CNS duties: Orientation, education and clinical competency validation for all clinical staff of units served throughout the years. Directly provide mentoring and direct care at bedside with staff as clinical expert. Serve in CNS role as Educator, Clinical Expert, support Research and Evidence-Based Practices with nurses impacting care at the bedside; Administrative support to clinical unit Directors to facilitate and implement clinical practice change. CNS scope of practice impacts and influences: Care of Patients /Families; Nurses and Health Care Providers; and Organization-wide system changes.
