About Ginny Nickles

I bring almost 20 years of Atlanta-based community service, development knowledge and experience to my role as Director of Generosity at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. An Atlanta native, I graduated from The Westminster Schools before attending Vanderbilt University where I received my undergraduate and Master’s degrees. Following graduate school, I returned to Atlanta where I spent time working in development for the Southeastern Flower Show (Southeastern Horticultural Society) before working corporately with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan and Meyer Closings (but still managing to hold true to my community passion staying active on non-profit Boards and assisting with corporate community engagement and outreach). The call to return to the non-profit sector was strong and in 2010 I accepted a position with the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children, ultimately becoming the Executive Director and serving over 4,000 homeless women and children a year. Following over four and a half years of service to the homeless of Atlanta, I had a life-changing lunch with Dr. Jay Madden where he offered me an opportunity to join the Mission Ministry team at Peachtree. For eight years I led mission-based programming including church-wide events like Blessing Bags, Seeds of Hope, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity builds, and a Global Marketplace. In addition I managed sponsorship programs that included sponsoring students in Malawi and India or providing Christmas for local families in need. In the fall of 2019, I was asked to assist with preparations for a capital campaign at the church and in May of 2022 I assumed full campaign management and church-wide annual stewardship responsibilities as the Director of Generosity. I have held a variety of leadership and Board roles in the Atlanta community including: the Junior League of Atlanta where I was a part of the Centennial Grants Committee, the AJLI Conference Chair, Board member holding the position of Vice President of Fund Development and a Member of the Endowment Fund Committee, Community Partnership Evaluation Committee Chair, Member of the Donor Advised Funds Committee, and Placement Chair at My Sister's House. I have served on the Communities in Schools Board; served as a member of the Executive Board of the Southeastern Horticultural Society; Board member of Heritage Sandy Springs; Chair of Elegant Elf Fundraising Gala and engaged member of the Sandy Springs Society; member of Women Shaping Shepherd; and former Co-Chair of the Fairytale Tea and Blue Healer fundraiser benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.​
