Headed the M&A practice in Latvia, providing a wide range of M&A advisory services, including mergers, acquisitions, divestments and strategic and financial advice. Closely managed a number of sizeable M&A projects in the Baltics, including the landmark deal of BTA Baltic Insurance Company sale to Vienna Insurance Group (largest deal in the Baltics at the time), disposal of the loan portfolio of the distressed asset manager Reverta (former Parex) to Marginalen Group, sale of the loan portfolio of Hiponia to B2Holding, and others. Apart from M&A deals, managed and oversaw the valuations of businesses, financial assets and trademarks. Passionate promoter of family business culture in Latvia – was involved in tackling issues facing family businesses, succession planning being one example.

Provided analytical support to SEB Group's CFO and top management on financial performance and steering of the Group. Played a key role in the business planning for the Group by modeling income and cost development scenarios based on the macro outlook, regulatory constraints, peer benchmarking and Group strategy. Developed an income forecasting model that proved itself as an accurate business planning tool. Selected financial KPIs and developed a tool to assist the financial steering of SEB Group. Deepened the analysis and understanding of the net interest income for the Group. Took part in EBA and ICAAP banking stress tests.

Provided analytical support to the CFO and the Head of SEB operations in Baltics, Ukraine and Russia. Analyzed the financial performance of the banks, conducted peer benchmarking and played an active role in the business planning for the division. Developed a new format for management reporting and for the first time in the Baltic banks implemented a common methodology for lending and deposit margin analysis.

Assessed the credit risk and loan repayment capacity of medium- and large-size Latvian, Baltic and Scandinavian corporate clients, primarily in forestry and wood processing, oil product, car sales and shipping industries. Worked closely with client executives on structuring the loan offerings in order to mitigate any potential risks to the bank and the clients themselves. Presented and defended the credit opinions in local and pan-Baltic credit committees.

Researched and analyzed the Baltic money and fixed-income market, often quoted in media on this topic. Developed a tool, linked to Bloomberg terminal, for third-party fund and structured product evaluation and ranking and continuously used it to select the best fit for chosen investment strategies in client portfolios and in-house funds of funds. Occasionally evaluated stocks of potential investments.
