Design of the Electronics Bay of the hybrid propellant Gemini rocket, being responsible for the structural part of the system, which was a complex structure made up of three different topologically optimized parts and 3D printed in Nylon (SLS). As responsible of the bay, I was also responsible for the people working with me on the system, and I also had to work in coordination with other departments.

Sizing, design, manufacturing and testing of the experimental rocket’s components, design for manufacturing, additive manufacturing, topology optimization, structural analysis (FEM). I worked in particular on the improvement of the performance of the Air Brakes of the rocket, which was a mechanized assembly completely made of CNC-machined alluminium parts, increasing the realiability of the system, while reducing the weight. I also worked on the manufacturing of pre-preg composite material parts, with complex shapes such as the ogive, fins, fuselage panels and boat tail of the rocket, laminated in 3D-printed or CNC-machined molds. The rocket went on to participate in the EuRoC competition and won the first place against other european universities, along with other prizes.
