Profile bio

About Giovanni Giannoni

I am a first generation American from Chilean and Guatemalan decent. Born and raised on the westside of Salt Lake County, I am passionate about my community and have a decade of experience serving in various capacities to support and uplift our most vulnerable populations. I've spent the last 5+ years working as a behavior specialist in residential treatment settings utilizing an empirically tested, evidence based and trauma informed intervention program designed for behaviorally-challenging youth called the Teaching-Family Model. I currently serve as the Vice-Chair of the Utah State Hispanic Democratic Caucus, own and manage two long-term rental properties, just graduated with my bachelor from Southern Utah University, and am working alongside the Westside Leadership Institute to formally establish my own non-profit organization in collaboration with Neighborworks Salt Lake and University Neighborhood Partners. Multicultural Experts Socializing Around Solutions (MESAS) is a safe space and professional network for young adult leaders of color to collaborate, celebrate culture, and challenge inequitable representation in various industries throughout Utah. I believe that by sharing resources, support, information, opportunities, and connections with one another, we can uplift and cultivate more leaders of color. Outside of work you can find me creating hip-hop music, traveling, thrifting mid-century modern furniture and vintage hi-fi stereo systems, giving out free haircuts, devouring street tacos, and breathing life into my house plants.
