In this role I have been responsible for delivering business critical IT services for Finance, Payroll and HR business processes. I have achieved Performance Promise and Service Level KPI’s by effectively executing core Service Delivery processes. I also lead resolution of critical incidents and change as part of the Drive for Results programme. This was a real negotiation and ambassadorship role. It all started when I used to volunteer for a charity in the Brighton and Hove Cab Trade, I was immediately chosen to become the Admin Secretary. This was very demanding, as I had to attend forum meetings between Brighton & Hove City Council and the cab trade owners and forum leaders. I then had to give my recommendations to the Head of Licencees. Added to that I had to really understand the information in order to pass it on at a meeting for a diverse range of forum members and write a newsletter for those unable to attend. I would also take their concerns to the Council’s Head of Licencees. I also worked with a liaison of Brighton and Hove Police Department and through communication with him and our members in the trade we were able to avoid a trade strike.

This role was all about investigating late payments, a real detective job, taking leads and following changes of address or contact details to send requests for payment, retrieve debts and minimise company losses. While here I found that clients often had to call back later, get put through to another accounts manager and have to explain their situation all over again, I designed a template to hold caller details that did not intervene data protection laws to make the whole process more user friendly.

There was a 3-day course at the beginning of the selection process for this job to learn basic first aid skills, client safety and teamwork, during this course I had to defuse an irate situation and I was immediately offered the job due to my communication and professionalism. I was quickly promoted to Supervisor heading a team of 8, delegating staff according to individual skillsets. We covered various locations throughout the city. I have a great eye for detail, which meant I was able to anticipate problems before they occur, throughout this job I applied the philosophy of “prevention is better than cure”. We were responsible for transferring Fat Boy Slim from his hotel to the stage in Brighton, which I’m proud to say, went without a hitch. Preserving order and safety at various locations throughout the city, utilising observation and training to anticipate and prevent problems and deal with any escalations and irate clients calmly and professionally
