Design and implementation of wireline and mobile Virtual Network Functions (EPC, HSS, IMS, ADC, ENUM) in test and production environments leveraging Red Hat Openstack Platform 10 IAAS, VMware+NSX and Juniper IP Fabric networking infrastructure. Extensive use of Ansible as DevOps tool: creation of Python modules and playbooks for automating the building of network configuration files. Use of Git for source code management. OvS-DPDK performance testing using KVM and Cisco TRex virtual traffic generator.

After conducing a massive migration of ~1000 workstations (L2/L3 configuration of new VLAN on core/distribution/access Nortel switches and DHCP set-up) I started working with load balancers.I have been involved in a technolgy refresh which consisted in the migration from the physical CISCO ACE load balancers to Citrix Netscaler VPXes: after learning the princples and some advanced features of load balancing, I started translating the configurations following the Netscaler new command syntax.

I spent this year configuring the RAI’s production network devices: CISCO multilayer switches and servers. In particular I supported the design and implementation of networks focused to permit the communication between storage systems and servers/clients. I learnt a lot: from VLANs set up to advanced port-channels configurations, and from EIGRP adjacencies to VRF-lite deployment. Moreover, I have been playing with ASA and FWSM configuration until I became a good junior network engineer. MRTG “Multi Router Traffic Grapher” is a tool I now master as well as Windows Server 2008/2012 operating systems. During this experience I attended a training course concerning AGILE methodologies and in particular SCRUM. This was very useful because right after this session I have been involved in a SCRUM project, which goal was to provide a summary view of all the data transferred daily between the various RAI’s headquarters. In particular my role was to give support regarding the network connectivity of the 3 MongoDB replica server and to set-up a web server, making it accessible from outside the intranet.
