I am a material scientist with a strong experience in surface characterization by scanning probe techniques and photoemission spectroscopies, I’m working on molecular and inorganic nanostructures since 2016 exploring form different point of views how these materials and their combination can be used to develop innovative functional materials and new technologies. My research activity in surface science started with the Bachelor and Master Degrees in Material Science and Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where I have investigated the self-assembling of nanostructures in vacuum or liquid conditions by scanning probe microscopies and spesctroscopies. From April 2015 I carried out my first post-doctoral experience at the Johannes Kepler University, in Linz (Austria), working in an international academic environment where increased my experience in spectroscopic techniques in UHV, exploring the potentialities of the forefront radio frequency-STS (rf-STS) technique beyond the study of magnetic systems and also approaching the field of molecular magnetism. My second post-doctoral experience (from July 1, 2016) was carried out at the Laboratory of Molecular Magnetism (LA.M.M.) at the Department of Chemistry “Ugo Schiff” of the University of Florence (Italy) and devoted to the investigation of magnetic nano-assemblies of SMMs and organic molecules with spin functionalities and their interaction with substrates by STM and photoemission spectroscopies and X-Ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism performed at synchrotron facilities. Here I gave an important contribution in the understanding of surface molecule interactions on the structural, electronic and magnetic molecular properties. During my third post doc, at the Department of Industrial Engeneering of Florence, I have also developed an independent research activity focused on the investigation and control photo-chemical reaction at surfaces. This is a fully innovative scientific activity that could lay the basis for a novel quantum sensing of magnetic fields and it has been developed on my scientific and technical know-how though strongly differentiating from the activity of my past and present post-doctoral groups. This research activity has been founded by an individual grant of the University of Florence. Since December 2019 I started a new post-doc exploring new frontiers for sensing technologies and in parallel I have boosted the research on molecular magnetism on surfaces by discovering a novel mechanism of molecular magnetization switching and sensing of the superconducting state.
