Fondazione RCM (Milan Community Network Foundation) is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 by the University of Milan (Department of Informatics) and other local government organizations to promote the active participation of citizens in public policies through the use of networked digital environments. I managed and carried out in field activities on the following projects:- Digital participation platform for the Municipality of Milan: analysis of the participation processes of the Municipality of Milan; platform designing, use cases, personas and scenarios identification- Digital Participation platform for the Municipality of Zola Predosa (BO): analysis of the requirements, configuration and management of the Decidim platform to support the municipality participation processes;- Bassa Reggiana Community Hub: participatory process for the construction of the Local Digital Agenda and the Regulation for Commons and Active Citizenship. Process design, project management, workshop facilitation.- Vigolzone Partecipa: participatory budget of the Municipality of Vigolzone. Process design, project management, workshop facilitation for the three editions of the process (from 2017 to today).

"Milanosud Ecomuseum" Project. The initiative aims to set up an Ecomuseum to the south of Milan. It will be a participatory hub to promote citizens' cultural activism, to encourage them to take care of our commons, and to foster community based social relations.Managed project.Designed participation scenarios and IT tools for digital heritage.

Project EMPATIA - Enabling Multichannel PArticipation Through ICT Adaptations (Horizon 2020 Call: H2020-ICT-2015)1) study of the state of the art relating to the use of networked digital environments for the participatory processes, in particular for Participatory Budgets and participatory monitoring of public works;2) selection of significant case studies of participatory budgets on which to carry out the analysis of the implementation cycle, deepening in particular the knowledge of the contexts, the actors and the communities involved, the tools and media used, the critical issues and strengths ;3) identification and analysis of experiences of realization and participatory monitoring of services and public works;4) requirements for the development of a tool that manages the implementation and monitoring cycle;5) identification of participation evaluation indicators based on Empatia software logfiles and of the necessary integrations to take account of offline participation;

Research as part of the Wikirate project (www.wikirate.org), which aims to design and develop a collaborative environment for producing and sharing knowledge on social responsibility for enterprise. This research belonged to the segment devoted to analyzing communities and users (investigating user behavior so as to set up scenarios useful for development) and to studying gamification concepts.

Research "LiquidFeedback in Large-scale Civic Contexts: Framing Multiple Styles of Online Participation

" Analyzed data on participation in two initiatives led by the Fondazione Rete Civica di Milano on this innovative platform, "ProposteAmbrosoli2013" and "TuParlamento."

Teaching, as follows:“Technology, Communication, and Society” in the Cinema and Media Engineering master’s degree program; “Media, Networks and Interactivity” in the second-level master’s course on Network Innovation and IT Services at the Third School of Engineering"Multimedia Communication," first-year course in tthe Cinema and Media Engineering undergraduate degree program.

“In Media Loci - Comunità, media e interazioni”. Experimental research project financed through the "Programma Operativo Regionale" of the Region of Piedmont as part of an initiative on best practices and models for producing and distributing multimedia. The project aimed to design and test a multichannel (online/mobile), locative platform for promoting local areas and enterprise through system-embedded reuse of existing media content, either broadcast or local (i.e. collections, archives or single items available to inhabitants of the area).Operating project coordinator.
- In charge of the survey "Local Communities and Digital Locations: IT Strategies and Tools for Connecting People, Places, and Communities,” on the relation among technology, places, and local communities in the areas where In Media Loci has been trialed.
- Research and operating activity on the following work packages: 1) Communication requirements (crossmedia and locative), technology requirements, and user requirements; 3) Designing and developing solutions for exploitation and content; 5) Experimentation.

Research under the aegis of the, “Locative Media for Building Smart, Inclusive Cities,” program. This research delved into the the potential role of locative media in defining media strategy for building ‘Smart Communities’ and ‘Smart Cities.’Studied, designed, and ran ludic, location-based initiatives for promoting local areas as part of “LeoHub,” a research center on technology and media for regional cultural heritage (http://leohub.technonews.it/): 

- “Aequilibrium: Leonardo’s Last Guardian” - Experimental alternate reality game for promoting the Lomellina region. Conceived, designed, coordinated, and developed the location-based interaction. Collaborated with Consorzio AST, Vigevano’s local development agency, on the “Giovani e Crossmedialità: We Art Technology” youth project, an initiative funded by the Italian Department of Youth and the association of municipalities.

- "Findout," a platform for managing local creative contests (www.findout.polito.it) that was used to involve youth communities in producing digital content related to the local area. Conceived and coordinated the project. Collaborated with Consorzio AST, Vigevano’s local development agency, on the “Giovani e Crossmedialità: We Art Technology” youth project, an initiative funded by the Italian Department of Youth and the association of municipalities.

The CIVES “Citizens towards Sustainability” project, funded by Fondazione Cariplo with the 2009 call to “train for sustainability,” is a participatory project for the neighborhoods around Milan’s Darsena (Porta Ticinese dock) and Navigli and the area known as “Parco delle Risaie.” One of CIVES’s aims is to establish a ‘new alliance’ between citizens who live near the Darsena and farmers in the outlying area, in order to set off win-win cooperation to improve quality of life in these urban and rural spaces. Consulted professionally on managing participation tools locally and online, on mapping the actors, on designing participation scenarios, and on facilitating participation on the web and in the area.

The “Oltrepò (Common) Places: Maps and Narratives from a Hospitable Region” project, financed by the Italian Department of Youth and the association of municipalities in partnership with the municipalities of Godiasco, Montesegale, Rocca Susella, Ponte Nizza, and Retorbido.Conceived, designed, and coordinated the project, which documented tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Oltrepò region. Designed and facilitated the participatory creation of the community map. 
Produced and edited content for the digital community map. Conceived, developed, and managed the georeferenced, online environment that hosted the community map.

This cooperative enterprise has carried out consulting, design, and research for local development. It specializes in promoting social capital, citizenship rights, equal opportunity, cultural heritage, the environment, sustainable tourism, and the social economy.Activities in the company included:
- research,- online and brick-and-mortar local-area animation, community mapping, and community building
,- planning for funding from European and local sources,- monitoring and evaluating funded projects,- coordinating operations for funded projects.

The “Participatory Mapping of Heritage from Lomellina Farmsteads” project, funded by the Province of Pavia, the Lomellina Ecomuseo, and GAL Lomellina, developed a web environment to improve access to Region of Lombardy data about farmsteads in the Lomellina area. The information was made accessible to non-expert users through a four-stage initiative. First, the farmsteads were identified and mapped. Second, fieldwork gathered data on 35 farmsteads chosen for their historical importance. Eyewitnesses to the agricultural lifestyle of the farmsteads were then video interviewed delving into their intangible heritage. Finally, a website to share the outcomes of research and promote the farmstead heritage was designed and developed.Conceived and designed project. Research included holding video-interviews with local actors. Conceived, designed, and managed online map of Lomellina farmsteads.

The S.O.L. “Online Services: The Harmony of Your Times” (2009-2010) project developed online services for the city of Vigevano.Coordinated as Curmà representative, managed communication, monitored service.

Facilitator and Community Manager for the “e21 project for developing digital citizenship in Agenda 21” in the cities of Vimercate and Vigevano. 

 Analyzed local participatory contexts and potential extension of participation through e21 information-technology. Analyzed types, accessibility, and usability of IT solutions to enhance local participation processes. Fine-tuned a set of participatory civic networking applications. Assisted local government in participatory initiatives. Edited and published online informational material, summary reports, and forum postings. Drafted netiquette for online participation. Monitored forums and online participation on the e21 websites for local administrations.

- Research “Study of Elder Lifestyle in Pavia” – Local network building, identifying and involving privileged local witnesses, organizing and running focus groups and interviews, processing and analyzing qualitative data, processing quantitative data, drafting descriptive report.
- Research “Pavia Open to the Future: Time and Space for a Participatory City,” a project of the City of Pavia for equal opportunity. Laid out plans for zoning and lifestyle efficiency in the town of Pavia, Italy. Research for studies on student mobility in Pavia and temporary Pavia residents, in collaboration with the Università di Pavia’s: data collection, processing, and analysis, drafting descriptive reports.
