I am a conservation scientist with a strong background in chemistry and analytical techniques for materials characterization. During my studies, I became familiar with preventive conservation, restoration processes, art materials, and the analytical techniques for their identification, characterization, and non-destructive imaging. I obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Molecular Sciences from the University of Bern, where I used several spectroscopic techniques to examine the physicochemical properties and degradation mechanisms of different substrate-pigment systems. I developed a multi-analytical approach for photosensitive materials, and I gained extensive experience with synchrotron radiation and X-ray Absorption and Diffraction techniques. Afterwards, I worked as a post-doctoral researcher at CSGI in Florence in the frame of the European project APACHE (Horizon 2020) for developing materials for preventive conservation and restoration. After a year at the British Museum as a research scientist (molecular analysis) within the ERC project INDUCE (Innovation, Dispersal and Use of Ceramics in NW Eurasia), I am now working at the National Research Council (CNR-SCITEC unit) for the project SuPerStAr on the conservation of street art.
