Homepage: https://sites.google.com/site/giuseppefloriomath/Giuseppe Florio is currently Full Professor of Mathematical Physics at the Department of Civil, Environmental, Land, Building Engineering and Chemistry of the Polytechnic of Bari and lecturer in courses in Theoretical Mechanics and Statistical Mechanics.He graduated in Physics (with honors, in 2003) and obtained a PhD in Physics (2007) from the University of Bari. He received the "Sergio Fubini" Award from the National Institute of Nuclear Physics for his doctoral thesis.He spent periods of research at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Waseda University (Tokyo), the Technical University of Delft (Netherland), the Research Center "E. Fermi" (Rome), the ESPCI (Paris), the University College of Dublin (Ireland) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain).He is the author of more than 50 publications in international journals about statistical and quantum mechanics, optimization techniques applied to complex systems (classical and quantum) and evolution equations.His research activity has been devoted to the analysis and characterization of correlations in many-body systems, phase transitions, critical phenomena and bio-materials. He also worked on mathematical models in continuum mechanics and the applications of statistical mechanics to materials science (also of biological interest).He presented the results of his activity in more than 40 international conferences. He has organized several national and international conferences on topics of applied mathematics and theoretical physics.These activities were carried out in the context of national and international collaborations. They have been developed in projects financed by various institutions (Ministry of Education, European Union, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Institute for Nuclear Physics, Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica and National Group for Mathematical Physics), both as a participant and as a coordinator.
