Graduated in cultural anthropology from Bologna, I have lived the last ten years of my life constantly traveling around Europe as a 'humanitarian border activist', studying in foreign (France, Sciences Po Reims, and Spain, UAB) and Italian universities, while taking parallel seasonal jobs of various kinds to finance my travels. Inspired by a strong passion for the topic of migration, I have volunteered for several years in European refugee camps and border areas, with NGOs and international solidarity collectives, and have been able to delve into the dynamics of life and organization of various civil society groups politically engaged in defending human rights on multiple levels, institutional and beyond. As a result, I have developed a wide range of organizational, logistical, practical, manual, and theoretical skills needed at the individual level and in a variety of socio-political contexts. These multi-year and heterogeneous experiences have logically led me to learn several languages, including English, French and Spanish at the highest levels, used both in theoretical academic studies as well as in highly multicultural working contexts. I returned to Palermo, where I currently study, to pursue a master's degree in law and expand my academic education on the topic of migration and human rights. For my bachelor's thesis in social anthropology I undertook a field study on the phenomenon of 'caporalato' (gangmaster system) in the "ghetto" of Campobello di Mazara, during the olive harvesting season, analyzing the role of foreign, mainly undocumented, workers in the Southern Italian agribusiness food chain and the history of ancient and modern forms of wage-slavery in the Siculo-Mediterranean area. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to teach Italian and English to foreigners as a volunteer during my travels, and I am currently volunteering as a tutor for an after-school program aimed at disadvantaged students (mainly of migrant origin) from middle and high schools at ADRA Onlus Italy. Thanks to this rich background, I possess a strong cultural and practical preparation necessary to organize individual and group activities of any kind. Given all these experiences, I can say that I know how to approach and handle very different personalities and stressful, radical situations.
