With ever increasing demand for more efficient power generation and distribution the goal of providing an efficient small generator suitable for domestic use is the focus of this research.This study therefore describes an analytical model of a hybrid fuel cell – Stirling engine generator.The purpose of the project is to develop combined SOFC-Stirling engine for micro CHP to be used in houses, analysing the optimun power plant configuration and type of fuel to obtain 3 electrical kilowatts.Due to high eletrical efficiency the emissions would be less than other conventional CHPs for houses.Simulations have been carried out using DNA (Dynamic Network Analysis), a component-based simulation tool for energy system analysis developed in the Thermal Energy System department at DTU.The energetic analysis of several plants configurations fed with different kind of fuel (Natural Gas, Ammonia) has been performed, in order to understand the effect of the plant layout and the effect of the fuel in the combined plant performances. Therefore the model generator quantifies the benefits of the significant symbiosis to be had from two well established technologies, SOFC and Stirling engine.The thermoeconomic analysis has been investigated as well, to establish benefits of isolating power system rather than being connect to the electrical grid and district heating net, all of that comparing the produced energy cost with the market price, considering average heat and electricity consumption of a normal size house in Denmark and in Italy.
