Conception X is a prestigious venture program aimed at empowering PhD students to become venture scientists and commercialize their research in impactful ways. The project idea that we and a colleague worked on was for a system capable of providing personalized skin care advice. The novelty of the proposed approach was that it relied on data retrieved directly from customers to provide targeted and personalized advice. This 9-month program ran parallel to my doctoral studies, offering comprehensive training on the startup world, coaching, mentoring, and presenting various funding opportunities. Through Conception X, I had the privilege of working on cutting-edge deeptech projects alongside industry experts and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

The research carried out at the Kenji Suzuki Lab focused on applying and testing foundational models to medical images (particularly PET and CT). Project: The main objective was to evaluate whether exploiting a CLIP-type approach to fine-tune foundational models trained on PET images and CT images, respectively, can lead to better performance than approaches based on only one type of such medical images (PET or CT only) or image registration-based approaches. My research time has focused on several aspects:- Investigated the various approaches to preprocessing and analysis of medical images, particularly PET and CT scans. Approaches such as conversion to Hounsfield units, (SUV) standardization, and image registration. - Reviewed the various ways in which Language Model and Visual Language Model can be applied to medical images for different tasks, especially classification and detection. - Implemented several such approaches on a dataset chosen to perform a classification analysis, and in particular, to try to understand whether tuning PET images to a model already trained on CT images could improve the performance of the model. - In addition, a parallel analysis to this was to compare and contrast the features recognized by the models, to understand the similarity between the features of PET images and those of CT images.
