Site Engineer
CurrentI work as a Site Engineer for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project(GERDP) on the Blue Nile. The project involves the construction of a maindam in RCC (Rolled Compacted Concrete): 1.8 km long, 155 m high with atotal volume of 10.4 million m3. At the foot of the dam there are 2 powerstations, located on the right and left banks of the river, comprising 13Francis turbines with a total installed capacity of 5’150 MW. The project iscompleted by a concrete spillway with a capacity of 15’000 m3/s and arockfill saddle dam (5 km long, 50 m high), both located on the left bank.( Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Ethiopian_Renaissance_Dam )Within the Construction Department, my role is to coordinate theworkforce, coordinate and ensure project, safety and quality compliance.Main Responsibilities:• Coordinate site activities by managing interference with other companies• Organising activities according to the general work programme• Fill the daily reports of the activities carried out• Ensuring that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislationare adhered to• Checking technical designs and drawings to ensure that they are followedcorrectly
