Internship within the European research network TERRE (Training Engineers and Researchers to Rethink geotechnical Engineering for a low carbon future). Worked on a project aimed at engineering the vegetation as a low-carbon remedial technique for ground stabilisation.Activities: • Laboratory measurement of plant water potential using High Capacity Tensiometer, Thermocouple Psychrometer and Scholander Pressure Chamber, in order to monitor the water flow through the Soil-Plant-Atmosphere Continuum (SPAC);• Design of the experimental setup and procedure;• Investigating performance and assessing limitations of the measurement techniques (Data acquisition, analysis, interpretation and reporting).

Activities:• Induction on plant hydraulics and physiology;• Application of High Capacity Tensiometer for measuring soil suction and plant water potential;• Training on plant water potential measurement using Thermocouple Psychrometer (at BIOGECO - University of Bordeaux).

Worked on a project aimed at the remediation of Mar Piccolo in Taranto.In detail dealt with the geotechnical characterisation of the polluted submarine sediments at the site. (Desk study; analysis of soil index properties and results of oedometer and direct shear tests, set up of triaxial compression tests, calibration of pressure and displacement transducers, load cells, volumeters.)
