Battery Grade Nickel Sulphate Purification PlantI was responsible for commissioning, stabilizing, de-bottlenecking and optimizing of crude nickel sulphate solution purification plant. I had to establish, monitor and maintain these essential operational KPIs: sustability, efficiencies and effectiveness.One of the critical outputs was to establish and maintain integrated work between Lonix nickel purification plant and Sibanye Stillwater Base Metals Refinery teams.Highlights to note: • Commissioned the first battery grade Nickel Sulphate plant in Africa • Re-designed and commissioned the nickel hydroxide re-leach circuit • Integrated and commissioned the crystals primary centrifuge wash into the live crystallizer circuit

I was a production metallurgist responsible for side streams and final refining processing of the PGMs (and Au). My responsibilities included but not limited to:• Monitoring of KPIs and OPIs• Troubleshooting • Plant (or circuit) optimizations and/or de-bottlenecking• Integrated planning with engineering teams• Chemical efficiencies monitoring• Daily plant mass balance• Conducting risk assessments (e.g JRA – Job Risk Assessment)• Employee engagements (e.g VFL – Visible Felt Leadership)• Leading incident investigations• Capacity Increase Projects – identification and implementation• Conducting of incident investigations• Compiling of technical and production reports• Commissioning of new equipment and/or control philosophies (sequences)• Reviewing and updating of operating procedures and process control basis• Leading and conducting HAZOP studiesA key contribution to note has been the ability to transfer knowledge to production and engineering teams through teams and/or one-on-one engagements and significant process safety improvement to the automation of the 11N HCl generation circuit and automation of Rh high-pressure dissolve reactors. I also had sustained periods of acting as Metallurgical Production Engineer (MPE), during which I have had an opportunity to lead production teams, lead and promote safe production, engaged with the labor representatives to resolve disputes, plan manning and production targets, lead incident investigations, manage departmental budgets, etc. Highlights for the period as a process metallurgist for Au and Rh circuits; • Automated and optimized Au de-plating process (reduced the phase time by 50%) – eliminated manual dig-outs of Au from the reactor• Designed and commissioned the Vertical Upgrade of Rh side stream with >98% First Pass efficiency• Re-designed and commissioned Rh high-pressure dissolution process with >99% efficiency (improvement of >10%) – with significant process safety contributions
