Ph.D. Student In Micro-And Nano-Electronics

Marseille Area, France

Phd subject: “Inkjet printing technology as a fabrication tool for Inorganic and Organic photovoltaic cells.”Goal: 1) to replace screen printing (serigraphic) by optimizing drop–on-demand (DOD) piezoelectric inkjet printing for front - side metallization of Si solar cells. 2) to adopt and tailor inkjet printing for patterning thin-film layers (such as PEDOT:PSS, active layers…) of organic photovoltaic cells. The following topics were the focus of my research project: - Select and choose functional inks from the market based on compatibility and performance criteria of the print-head dynamics. - Optimize printing and post-treatment parameters such as jetting parameters, drop-substrate interaction, , surface energy modification, surface patterning, drying time and curing process to achieve highly functional patterns ( such as conductive lines, low contact resistance) good adhesion, and high resolution. - Demonstrating/optimizing clear analytical characterization techniques to study the inks and the printing conditions (such as visualization of drop formation and jetting, measuring accuracy and repeatability, ink-substrate interaction characterization). - Electro-optical characterization of printed components in order to understand and measure the impact of optimized and implemented parameters (this includes infrared thermograph (IRT), Micromeasure2 surface topography, optical profilometer, mechanical profilometer, four point resistance measurement, scanning electron microscope, XDS elemental analysis, etc.).Director of the thesis: Prof. Dr. Ludovic EscoubasCo-directors: Dr. Jean-Jacques Simon, Project: PV Print project: “Development of industrial printing machine and process, for crystalline and polymeric photovoltaic panel production line”. Coordinators: Mondragon Assembly and IMPIKA
