I studied the changes in behavioral parameters of pharmacokinetic models in brain tumors using DCE-MRI data. The lab’s end-goal is to build a clinical decision system for a patient's responsiveness to cancer treatment. My own work contributed two independent components: i) a model and method for the categorization of patients diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, following chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as responsive and non-responsive, ii) a MATLAB-based graphical interface for visualizing DCE-MRI and ADC-MRI simulation data and functional parameters. The categorization model uses per patient pharmakokinetic model parameters and applies a comparative analysis to pinpoint a relative responsiveness threshold; said threshold value is constrained by the range of patient data provided.
