As a Business Insights partner within the Sovereign BI team, I was tasked with driving pragmatic, actionable and sustained changes across the organisation by spearheading our Data Strategy. I did this by influencing change together with my stakeholders at various levels to improve our Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Data Maturity and Data Culture. Key highlights of my career at Sovereign were:-In December 2016, improving the process of collating the regular Reserve Bank of New Zealands Insurer Returns by a factor of five, while also reducing the key risk around the process.-In March 2017 materially improving the maturity of Sovereigns Reference Master Data and Governance by implementing a more controlled, governed, auditable and effective implementation of Reference Master Data (golden source) in Microsoft Master Data Services.-In July 2017 setting up a centralised Data Lab and relevant infrastructure and data to maximise collaboration across the analytics community across Sovereign. Significant time savings were seen from the more advanced tooling, communication and learning opportunities I rolled out. Improvements in times for analysis to run in the lab compared to previous approaches are in the factors of over 10 times or better.I'm proud to have had the opportunities to drive these significant initiatives, which setup the core Data foundations and accelerate our Data Maturity and Analytics capabilities for years to come.

I was part of Deloitte’s national Enterprise Risk Services leadership team with the privilege of managing and growing the risk analytics team in New Zealand. I primarily focused on risk based analytics (AML, Fraud, Procurement, Internal Audit and Financial Audit), with the uncanny ability to identify additional valuable insights, strategic and financial opportunities or regulatory compliance issues for my clients.
