I have two to 10 years of experience in customer service in retail, insurance adjuster, real estate, and direct sales. I made a career change to education in 1992 by obtaining an Alternative Education Certification through an accelerated study program with the Texas Education Service Center Region X program to become a certified bilingual and ESL teacher for pre-K to 12 grades. I completed and was certified to teach in the Fall of 1993. In 1997 I obtained my teaching certification for Secondary Spanish Education. I continued to work in the education system until May 1999. I dedicated time at home to start a family and was able to work as a translator and interpreter for various industries and organizations and continued to teach part-time for Stephen F. Austin University. In 2000, I began working in a direct sales company providing education and products to various customers and building a team network. After a relocation in 2002 to our current home in Tyler, Texas, I continued to work from home and in 2007 was able to connect with a non-profit state coalition to advocate for asthma patients and stakeholders. This is an area I was passionately involved in and learned a great deal of information from the network of people I assisted and offered support to the team of coalition members. I was able to self-train on website management for the organization, scheduling monthly committee meetings via telephone, provide daily updates with emails and calls when needed, supporting and coordinating the organization's events, and maintaining meeting records. In 2015 I was able to return to work outside of the home and became the Office Manager at my current employer. The skills and experiences with organizations, record keeping, event coordinating, and customer service were utilized in this new role. I've had the opportunity to practice facilities and security management, procurement of office supplies, and vendor management process for the organization. In 2017 I attended the CUNA Vendor Management certification class to learn the regulations, risk mitigation, and processes to manage third-party relationships. In late 2019 the opportunity to promote to Human Manager became available and this is my current role. I provide our staff with needed support for benefits, development, and HR training. All new hire onboarding process, exiting employee process, and personnel record keeping is managed in my role. I maintain and update HR policies and Employee Handbook, provide training in all HR related modules and required training to staff.
