A Specialized Solutions Architect is a member of the Global Specialized Solutions Architect team within AWS. We focus on customers who are pursuing cloud based and fully managed End User computing service offerings that include AWS's Desktop as a Service, (Amazon WorkSpaces), application streaming service (Amazon AppStream 2.0) and enterprise storage and sharing service (Amazon WorkDocs). We develop best practices, document reference architectures and provide guidance to customers on their implementation efforts of these solutions within the Amazon Cloud.

As Sr. Desktop Platform Architect, Greg is responsible for the transformation of 25,000 corporate Windows PC’s from a lightly managed Windows XP image to a fully managed and operationalized Windows 7 platform. Included in the migration was the implementation of SCCM 2012, R2 with Adaptiva’s OneSite solution. The associated application catalog was populated with 700+ formally packaged applications that follow a standard set of packaging standards which were developed and followed for this enterprise wide effort. The migration was facilitated by certifying over 50 different specific hardware models from HP, Lenovo and Dell along with a customized USMT based personalization migration solution. Post rollout operational functions that were implemented include regular patching (Microsoft and other 3rd party), GPO updates, and Service Catalog offerings (Application Packaging, Software Distribution, Custom Configuration management).

Architected, integrated and lead developer of Allstate’s Windows corporate base images. Deliverables included: the integrated base image (Windows, Office, Internet Explorer, McAfee Security suite, etc.), related deployment/imaging methodologies, User State Migration practices and ongoing image update processes. Also included in these releases is the overall Program/Project Management as well as the communication efforts with Directors, Senior Managers, Technical staff and End Users across Allstate’s various Business Units and IT areas.
