Directing a workforce of 220 employees across the South and North of the UK via two National Operations Managers and a site based administrator for a global aerospace and defence company.

During this period I directed a large mixed portfolio across the City of London and the South East. I line managed two Operations Managers and three site based Account Managers. I directly remobilised a significant iconic events venue after a retender success and oversaw improvements across world renowned financial and educational entities. I championed Veterans interests, employee recognition and recruiting from the long-term unemployed.

As the Regional Manager (Major Accounts) I controlled a portfolio of very high-profile and iconic sites across the City of London with a turnover well in excess of 11 million pounds. I directly managed a team consisting of a Contract Manager, a Business Support Operative and multiple site-based Security Mangers. By directing and managing my team in an inspirational and dynamic fashion, using myself as an example and giving guidance, I achieved a well above the industry average of retention and contract renewal. I also took an active part in realising new business. I drove innovation in relation to a monthly Site Manager’s forum which grew and was given a very positive response from attendees and guest speakers alike. I was also at the forefront of a renewed drive for staff recognition and reward. This was supported by a successful ‘officer testimonial’ written by me for the 2019 OSPA’s.

My original role was as a Security Operations Manager looking after a mixed portfolio of sites across Essex, South Suffolk and East Hertfordshire. These included a number of high-profile sites dealing with challenging areas within the security remit such as local government, logistics and health services. In March 2015, I was promoted and became a National Account Manager for a leading UK bank. This involved managing Security Managers, Supervisors and Officers across the City of London and the South East. There were a total of thirty three sites that comprised mostly of admin complexes. I also arranged the supply of out-of-hours guarding coverage for branches of the bank when works needed to take place or emergency attendance was required.

Post the acquisition of Reliance by Securitas, I was a National Account Manager for a Global Defence Customer. I concentrated on a portfolio covering two separate business units located in different areas within the south of the UK. One of the business units was predominantly R&D whilst the other was related to Maritime. This was based at HMNB Portsmouth Docks and involved working very closely with the Royal Navy for the safety and security of vessels whilst undergoing decommission and refit .

Prior to the acquisition of Reliance by Securitas, I was rapidly promoted and completed a number of roles within the company. These were - Retail Security Officer, Operations Support Manager, Retail Contract Manager and Corporate Contract Manager (managing a mixed portfolio of defence, commercial and retail). In the autumn of 2010, I was again promoted and became a National Account Manager for a Global Defence Customer, where I concentrated on a portfolio covering two separate business units located in different areas within the south of the UK.

During my time as a Police Officer I interviewed suspects as well as victims of crime on a regular basis. From these dealings I then produced detailed reports and evidential case files for use by the Crown Prosecution Service in court for which I frequently gained positive feedback. During my service I was trained to help victims of very serious sexual offences and also to tutor/mentor constables who were in their probationary period of training. Furthermore, I acted as a supervisor for an extended period of time. The role I completed gave me proven strengths in the areas of investigation, problem solving, initiative, customer focus, teamwork and flexibility. I finished my service as a firearms officer.

After leaving the Army I worked for a short period as a Gas Fitter. I was directly employed by British Gas and worked closely with contract labour. This gave me an insight into outsourcing and liaisons between in-house operations and sub contractors.

During my period of service with 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, I served in the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada and Northern Ireland. For the last two years of my service I was an Instructor at the Guards Depot in Pirbright, Surrey.
