Profile bio

About Glen Cuming

Over the course of my career I have built a strong reputation as a leader, finding a common ground between managing staff and guiding them toward achieving organizational objectives. In my most recent role, as the Senior Capital Projects Officer with Sturgeon County, I oversaw the delivery of road, bridge, and drainage projects working closely with County Operations to ensure that operation and maintenance is coordinated with the capital program. I was one of the key members working on the refinement of the capital process and applicable documentation, ensuring political intent is executed and local residents and businesses are engaged to determine expectations and provide high levels of service.Prior to working at the municipal level, I was a Director with Alberta Transportation where I lead a highly experienced team of engineers and technologists revising highway maintenance contracts; analyzing and modernizing maintenance standards, performance measures, and requirements in order to improve efficiencies. This included the introduction of performance-based criteria. These contracts were critical in sustaining Alberta’s horizontal infrastructure and impacted the quality of life and safety of the traveling public. I also managed Government of Alberta facilities as an employee of SNC Lavalin O&M contracted by Alberta Infrastructure where I was responsible for a wide variety of facilities spanning from north Edmonton to Fort Chipewyan and from Edson to Mundare.I served with the Canadian Armed Forces for over 26 years, where I cultivated a technical skill set in engineering, fortified by the leadership strengths needed to align cross-functional resources and rally them around a common purpose. My military career had taken me across Canada, as well as Afghanistan and Kosovo. This allowed me to engage and collaborate with people from many cultural and organizational backgrounds and served to hone my management capabilities. I was instrumental in shaping and executing strategy for a number of combat engineering initiatives which have called upon my planning, project management and people leadership talents.
