Company: A $1.5B national provider of car insurance providing nonstandard car insurance through >12,500 independent agents; company became a publicly traded in 2003. While at Infinity Insurance, I was promoted to lead many aspects of IT department operations, including IT infrastructure, communication (LAN, WAN, data center, and more), disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance. Here, I influenced network planning, design and optimization decisions, reporting to the CIO, managing a team of 9 direct reports (at peak).Key highlights: - Scaled infrastructure to support business growth from $300M to $1.5B over 17 years. - Built, mentored and developed a strong, highly responsive team capable of supporting the company’s fast-paced environment, 2,400 employees, corporate office LAN networks, and 40-50 remote office WAN. - Asked to serve as Chief Security Officer (CSO) in 2014, and established company’s security practice from the bottom-up. - Identified and implemented outside-the-box solutions for a zero-downtime-tolerance environment. - Built out a significantly robust network infrastructure across LAN, WAN and Internet areas, working with Cisco Advance Services and internal staff in the design, build and implementation of a dynamic data center network and security environment. - Established the company’s first corporate BYOD plans. - Established the company's Systems Usage Policies.- Established the company's Incident Response Policy.

In my role at Infinity Insurance, I configured and maintained routers, switches and other related network equipment, including wireless and VOIP. My role expanded to include network security, managing the ingress and egress of traffic through the networks using CheckPoint firewalls, IPS and IDS solutions. Here, I built and managed a team of 5 Network Analysts to support and ever growing and changing networking infrastructure. Key highlights: - Enabled proactive alerts for issues, review utilization and address capacity planning by implementing network-wide monitoring.- Managed a refresh of network hardware connecting 40+ remote sites. Migrated platform from frame-relay to an MPLS cloud, enabling the placement of Active Directory servers across the WAN.- Took over Telephony in 2005 following merger with sister company. Scaled systems to support 2,400 employees. - Led physical migration of services for over 900 employees with minimal disruption. - Directed the design, build out and commissioning of a new data center to accommodate organizational growth. - Reduced environment footprint significantly by creating a PCI compliance card data environment.
