Care provider, educator, researcher, leader

Currently I provide prehospital care to the ill and injured residents and visitors of Delaware County as part of a three-person team. I also precept new employees to our department as a Field Training Officer, and have done so since 2012. I have roles in our education department specifically with BLS, ASLS, PEPP, as well as acting as a continuing education instructor with emphasis on airway, respiratory, trauma and pediatric topics. I have had a leading role with implementing medical simulation into our education program curriculum and currently use our mobile simulation lab to train our employees on new topics throughout the year. I recently wrote my first successful grant for new specialty equipment valued at over $19,000. I am leading a plan to provide our crews with a vehicle that is dedicated for bariatric patients, and provides our staff with innovative techniques and equipment for treating and transporting said patients in an effective manner. I am also an active member of our Community Outreach Committee, and have organized several events for the public and have appeared at many others on behalf of DCEMS and the committee.

I provide respiratory care and therapy to the patients of Grant Medical Center. I specialize (and enjoy) care provided in the Critical Care and Emergency settings. In addition to daily responsibilities, I have also have an active role in education and have presented on topics such as Non-invasive, Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV) and Arterial Blood Gas Interpretation, amongst several others. These topics have been presented to many different disciplines within the hospital, ranging from Paramedic and nursing students, to practicing RN's and members of Life Line of Ohio, (our regional organ procurement organization). Recently I was also appointed to the Code Blue committee as a representative of our department, and soon I will begin preforming educational rounds with our paramedic education program specializing in education of respiratory assessments and interventions.
