John Hart Dam Generating Station Replacement Project

• Provide technical oversight for underground operations to ensure tunnel profiles, bolt installation, shotcrete placement, etc., meet minimum design specifications. Underground work includes drill and blast tunneling.
• Track out of scope work to ensure accurate and timely billing. Assisted in developing and implementing a tracking system to successfully capture this work that recovered $384,000 over two months.
• Track development cycle times and identify operational delays. Suggested improvements to increase cycle efficiency and keep project on schedule. Reduced shotcrete cycle times by 30-40 minutes by suggesting a 2m3.
• Assist day-shift surveyor by checking tunnel profiles, surveying newly excavated areas, and marking up steel ventilation duct locations.
• Developed bolting ordering forecast based off actual consumption rates to determine ordering quantities and timelines. This helped to prevent extra cost due to over-ordering expensive and high-lead time items.
• Quality control explosives loading operations. Inspect loaded rounds, program electronic detonators, and assist with general blasting procedures. Prevented blasting delays of 20-30 minutes by identifying blast boxes.

Rabbit Lake

• Restored safe production to priority headings by identifying recirculating ventilation resulting in high Radon gas levels.
• Improved mine safety by identifying deteriorating rock conditions resulting in rehabilitation near critical mine infrastructure.
• Increased mine airflow by 20,000 CFM by identifying and correcting stalling surface fans.
• Performed geotechnical assessments of proposed stoping blocks to identify stable stope dimensions and cablebolt requirements.

• Recorded underground equipment and ventilation usage to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Remotely operated crush & convey systems using Distributed Control System (DCS). Monitored surface fan operation and performance using DCS.
