Kennards is the leading Australian Self storage company, with sites in both Australia and New Zealand.The ‘Operations Managers' role predominantly entails the general management of the enterprise in Queensland by developing a team of constructive proactive people and optimising the performance of the region and its multiple storage centres.Responsibilities for the dual roles of Queensland Operations Manager and Purchasing and Merchandise Manager (AUS/NZ) include but are not limited to: • General management of the Queensland region in addition to Australia and New Zealand merchandise supply contract negotiation and range selection • Recruitment, coaching and development of the Queensland teams, including annual performance and salary reviews. • Full P&L EBITDA responsibility for the Queensland region• Australia and New Zealand National Merchandise supply contracts and merchandise profit and revenue responsibility • Pricing and merchandise range selection in all markets• Financial reports interpretation and opportunity identification • Annual and quarterly site compliance audits• Property and retail presentation standards• Maintenance of the Kennards brand integrity in the Queensland region and with regard to merchandise nationwide in Australia and New Zealand • Facility management contracts and compliance • Pre-purchase assessment of self-storage sites with a view to acquisition and post-purchase integration into the Kennards group• Experience in construction of offices and retail fit-outs in addition to storage construction• Disaster recovery as necessary after floods natural/man-made and storm damage

Managed all facets of the group, from HR and fleet management to location changes and landlord negotiations. Developed numerous internal systems and sourced and selected merchandise ranges. Oversaw merchandising layouts and shop fit outs, computer program selection and implementation in addition to coaching teams and numerous other areas of responsibility for this Brisbane based multi-site newsagency group.
