More than 40 years of doing just about anything I can that's software related. I'm always looking for the more complicated problems to solve. One of my greatest joys comes from seeing customers take delivery of and start using a system, and watching the huge smiles come across their faces. I strive for and almost always have happy customers.Specialties: I can do just about anything having to do with software development and delivery. I excel in understanding the big picture and building plans and software that can satisfy immediate needs without sacrificing future requirements.

Activities have been focused in these significant areas:Created the architecture team, processes, tools, and all of the "how we do architecture here" elements.Includes formalized diagrams (from big picture to detailed drill-downs), engineering patterns, capabilitiesmaturity (both in our engineering processes and in our platform), patterns, standards, roadmap, definition of done (SDLC maturity processes and checklists).Created a Reference Implementation for faster onboarding, experimentation and education. Buildingand maturing a common requirements process, templates and artifacts. Continuously work to bridgecommunication gaps including managing our bi-weekly tech talks for the entire org and weekly"architecture open discussion" hours for unstructured Q&A on architecture.Me and my team work across all areas of the org to ensure that company vision is translated tostrategic and tactical plans with attainable transition states from baseline to the target.High degree of collaboration at all levels of the org, from the ELT, in all levels of engineering, productand delivery. Principal EngineerWorkfront Jun 2012 - Oct 2016Lehi, Utah, UsFocus on scalable infrastructure and platform services. Built EMEA virtual data center in AWS and did lift-and-shift for a primary production workload. Certified AWS Solutions Architect. Worked on automation of virtual data center, virtual environments and autonomous team service stacks within AWS. Currently working on AWS Certified Developer Associate. For the first couple of years, my focus as an individual contributor was on building and running scalability testing. Due to the complex nature of the Workfront application I built a data warehouse and the ETL & ELT processes to bring in historical traffic data, identify patterns of traffic to replicate and then generate a wide combination of variations (specific customer traffic targets, factored up/down load, traffic pattern matching, peak hour identification, peak hour per stem identification) and massive load. From this and monitoring we identify weaknesses in the app and platform long before we reach those limits, and then we modify whatever is needed to remove those limits. Then I spent time focused on performance and scalability improvements through micro-services refactoring, distributed cache and a variety of performance targets. Also championing runtime configuration management with ZooKeeper as a backend, building micro-services framework starters (utilizing Spring Cloud, Spring Boot, Eureka, etc). Also assisted in bringing in new search functionality with Solr and ZooKeeper. -
