Accountable for the early development of small molecule anti-cancer compounds, from lead optimisation to proof of concept; both as monotherapy and combination with other anti-cancer treatments i.e. small molecules, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immune oncology agents. The relevant biological effect areas of these compounds included hormone manipulation, invasion, DNA damage repair, immune modulation, angiogenesis, MTOR/PI3K/AKT pathway, anti-sense oligonucleotide and tumor genetic drivers; I developed molecules in both solid and haematological malignancies.My accountability included the overall clinical, scientific & value content, risk benefit assessment and delivery of the medical science components to the projects to time & quality. I had responsibility for the clinical strategy, the ethical and scientific integrity of the plans, studies and the product, and the risk management plan. I was also responsible for high level strategic internal and external interactions, and for ensuring that my Project clinical strategies and plans received peer review to assure quality.I provided strategic and operational leadership within the Clinical Development Group of the Oncology Innovative Medicine Unit (IMed); ensuring consistent practices, compliance with internal SOPs, local regulations and laws, talent development, leadership development, best practice sharing, mentoring programs, coaching, training, and medical education.I had line management responsibility for the physicians and clinical scientists in my group, delivering performance management, guiding professional development, communicating business priorities and vision, working closely with key stakeholders to effectively champion project objectives and resource requirements.
