Both of my sisters went into a nursing field and, at a young age, my family always expected I would follow but drawing blood was never something I saw myself doing. I wanted to help people from an early age and this crazy thing called "a computer" kept falling in my path. At the early age of 8 I was introduced to my first Apple and I found myself extremely intrigued. I was one of the first people in my hometown to be able to make a colored dot travel vertically across the screen. Kind of a "had to be there" thing but it was exciting! In the early 90's I shifted to the PC platform and found myself intrigued by C#, HTML, CSS and similar programming. I started designing websites before anyone really knew what a website was and then in early 2000 an opportunity rose for me to venture into healthcare in a different path than my sisters - applications management. I learned applications quickly, mostly was self-taught, and continued learning more about computers, too. I rebuilt my first motherboard in 2006 while holding a soldering gun as steady as possible. I learned quickly, perhaps from the patience soldering required, that applications were my forte and I dug deep into each one put in front of me, learning the backend functions & hidden techniques, and became an expert administrator of Cerner, Winscribe, Allscripts Ambulatory, and RLDatix. I was never one to back down from a challenge so I gave my left brain a rest and focused on my right brain in the form of graphic design, template and pattern design, and product development utilizing Adobe Creative Suite. I've been told I have the unique ability to maintain a left brain analytical approach while utilizing the creative parts of my right brain that allow me to think outside of the box and include empathy in my interactions with others. College courses taught me the skills I more than likely would have learned on my own a lot quicker and helped me hone in on specific pieces such as dashboard and pivot tables in Microsoft Excel and relationship management in Microsoft Access. Personally, I love nature and enjoy being outside in the garden and seeing new buds form each spring. I camp every weekend I can in the summer and I enjoy fishing both on water and on ice. Family is extremely important to me and I enjoy a nice work/life balance but I am driven to meet deadlines, have the hindrance of being a perfectionist, and although I am quiet at large social functions, it's not uncommon to see me at the whiteboard strategizing during a business meeting.
