I am the communications manager for Marian University, a small Catholic university in Indianapolis. I perform communications/media relations and write external and internal stories. I also write/produce a community/campus newsletter for President Daniel J. Elsener, reaching more than 22-thousand. As a former award-winning television journalist, my media relations efforts have accounted for a 67% increase in Marian's media attention in almost two years. I am also president of Glendal Jones Communications Group, LLC, where I assist my clients in introducing their brand, products, and mission to their customers, the community, media, and others through strategic marketing communications, I formerly worked as a communications/media/crisis communications consultant for attorneys who litigated on behalf of families devastated in the 2018 Duck Boat tragedy. I also served as a mobile messaging consultant performing business-to-business work and implementing communications strategies for Sentext Solutions, one of the country's largest text message mobile companies.I formerly managed community relations/communications for SUEZ North America-Indianapolis-which was the 2nd largest environmental company in the world! (SUEZ North America is now Veolia North America.) I oversaw philanthropic activities funding dozens of not-for-profits. Responsibilities included strategic internal/external communications, PR/Media relations, social media, internal/external branding, corporate/community relations, and marketing. I honed my skills as a broadcast journalist working in several markets, including Indianapolis, IN, and as an award-winning reporter/anchor and public affairs host in Columbus, Ohio. At WTHR-TV 13 Indianapolis, I covered major news stories, including the Mike Tyson Trial, served as a police/education reporter, and anchored weekend and noon newscasts. I am also a former Emmy nominee, winning numerous Associated Press and other awards. I was appointed by a former Indianapolis mayor to host a citywide diversity show titled "Collage," I also served as a freelance producer/writer/reporter for the former CBS Television show, "The Doctors."As Director of Communications for Congressman Andre Carson,(7th District-IN), I served as press secretary, spokesperson, media relations advisor, and speechwriter while handling government affairs duties. I am also a past gubernatorial appointee to the Commission for a Drug-Free Indiana. Most important is serving and giving back to the community, where I volunteer for youth and women-oriented committees.
