The Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the Harvard Kennedy School has partnered with a group of five cities in Massachusetts to form the Innovation Field Lab. The field lab embeds teams of graduate students to collaborate with local governments to develop a holistic, data-driven strategy to prioritize and resolve the prevalence of problem properties.As a member of the Innovation Field Lab course teaching team, Glendean provided public sector consulting services to the City of Salem and Lawrence, MA. Glendean managed a team of five students in efforts to diagnose the root cause of problem properties in Salem's local context and design integrated policy and technological solutions. She worked closely with the City's Mayor and department heads to build their staff’s capacity to implement the proposed reforms and measure their progress. Glendean collaborated with colleagues to design the course and to promote the unique benefits this field course present to students across all graduate schools at Harvard University.

She spearheaded the Mayor’s Office efforts to design the inaugural programmatic strategy and performance framework for a newly created city-wide office focusing on homelessness and housing. A gifted communicator, she delivered briefings to the Mayor and executive-level staff members detailing an implementation plan to expand results-based contracting measures and to increase the use of performance data across social services. Glendean managed relationships across the non-profit, public, and private sectors to support the implementation of the City’s Social Impact Bond and author a public-facing case study to inform future pay-for-success initiatives.

The research department builds a base of knowledge to help individuals, practitioners and organizations better understand, implement and support student-centered approaches to learning.Glendean originally joined the Foundation as a Summer Research Intern. Within weeks, Foundation leadership offered her a full-time staff position as a Research Assistant. Glendean was responsible for managing 14 individual grants to research organizations and intermediaries across the United States by writing RFPs and MOUs, managing grant schedules and budgets, and preparing research papers/ reports for publication. During the Foundation’s strategic planning, she collaborated with colleagues to devise a $11 million plan to launch and scale principal fellowships across New England. Glendean succinctly summarized bodies of research in well-written literature reviews to communicate key research findings to internal and external audiences.

Glendean utilized student performance data from multiple sources, such as ANET, DRA, and MCAS, to raise the achievement levels of all 60 of her students. On average, her students grew 1.8 years in reading and 1.6 years in writing. Glendean, along with her team teacher, attained the highest student growth on the English MCAS in the history of the school.
