Once again I found myself in a new roll here on site, with a whole range of bigger and demanding challenges to face, after My former boss moved to a new role within the company and I was offered this position. I have slowly but surely found my feet but as mentioned prior I learn new things everyday but one thing has not changed service, it's all about providing a service to the client which I know about so from that I can build something one would hope.

Once I had achieved my Cert II in tyre fitting heavy I was luck enough to be offered the role as back to back supervisor here on site as one of my work mates was moving on.I took the possition in hope of learning all I could in the role about Cert II tyre fitting and running an opperation like this as both were still new to me in such a short period of time.

I applied to work on the mines and look for some form of recognised training in tyre fitting after all those years where I was mainly self taught apart from the brand name workshops and tradeshows you could attend to gather product and service knowledge from. I was employed as a phone sales rep but after a few months was given the chance to go out on the road to do some rep work within the metro area wholesaling tyres from pasenger to EM.

At this piont I had realised that the store had potential to grow more, so I approached a good freind of mine who was from an exhaust and mechanical back ground to enter a partenership and buy the store I was running from Tom's Tyres. The idea being he would handle the exhaust side of the business and I would take care of tyres and the office, untill he became more comfortable with that side of the store.This worked well and the store after a slow start, built up into the main outlet for tyres in the area as well as falling into the top dealer bracket for brands such as Hankook, Toyo, Goodyear and AC Delco.We sold Tyres from motorcycle to EM, batteries, exhausts for car truck and agricultral, 4wd equipment, suspensions,bullbars towbars and fuel for the next 20 years untill we decided to sellup. During this time we worked both on the floor and in sales as apart from part time workers fitters or office workers there was only the 2 of us in the store 95% of the time. Show less

I was transfered to a new store as manager in a nearby town, where I ran it once again dealing with passenger, LV,Truck and Agricutural tyres and some EM tyres. We also made custom exhausts and sold fuel and batteries.

I was approached by a opposition store in town to come and work for them as a manager of their retail outlet, dealing with passenger and LV tyres with some truck involved. We also sold pre made exhaust systems and batteries.

I was moved from the retread plant into the office to run and deal with any sales enquiries from the public or exsiting clients in regards to both new and retread tyres.

In this period of time I wished I had gone on at school or had a trade behind me as work was hard to find in a small country town. however by turning up at the local employment service each day I was able to find short term work in various areas maily seasonal work. The local fish processing factory Hunts canning and as a brickies labourer along with some farm work during hay season.

In charge of opperating the atuo clarve that set the twist in the hanks of carpet yarn, as well as general forklift work loading trucks and basic duties on the floor of the mill it's self. I worked at this untill things became unsettled and I left, the mill finally closed a short time after.
