As an Senior Software Engineer for IBM, I was responsible for many tools, processes and procedures to support the Information Management brand within IBM.I develop tools used internally to reduce the headcount needed to manage thousands of systems across multiple platforms in Perl, shell, and PHP.I use Agile methodologies to manage my workflow and integrate the needs of my internal customers into the development and management of the tools.I am one of the lead developers for a security automation API using PHP and shell that will extend the ability for the development teams to perform required system maintenance as well as provide reporting on the security compliance status of the environment.I am responsible for the security patch compliance across multiple platforms, reducing the need for people to log in and individually update each system.I am responsible for account automation across Unix and Linux systems using custom Perl scripts and a set of LDAP servers.I work in close cooperation with the other system administrators to provide an escalation point for complex administration tasks as well as support for the tools I own.I also collaborate with the development groups we support to meet the needs of the business in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where system requirements can change overnight.I maintain and develop the configuration management/patch infrastructure for the department using cfengine and chef as well as a collection of Perl and shell scripts.I work as the project lead for a monitoring project interfacing with management as well as the various system administration teams that support the systems.

As an Advisory Software Engineer for IBM, I was responsible for many tools, processes and procedures to support the Information Management brand within IBM. I performed Physical system management for my local location as well as remote system management for the other sites in the department. I worked as the capital and expense focal point for the smaller sites which included assisting our internal customers with developing their capital plan for the year. As part of my duties, I developed many tools to automate common support activities. I developed an automated maintenance environment that allowed us to perform system changes across the organization; this included an automated patching infrastructure that supported multiple versions of Linux/Unix, an expanded account management suite of tools allowing the administration of accounts across multiple sites. I assisted in the implementation of an internal firewall and the migration of all development resources behind it.
