Deputy Director For Facilities And Engineering
CurrentUnder supervision of the Associate Vice President for Facilities and Engineering, serves as the Deputy Director. This position provides oversight of the day to day operations of the Physical Plant and is responsible for engineering efforts under Materials Management Office (MMO) authority, to include construction plans, drawings, and specifications. Manages the finances and execution of projects under MMO authority. Assists the Associate Vice President in the administrative operations of the department.
Deputy Base Civil Engineer
Provided strategic planning, management and vision to 500 military and civilian personnel and responsible for providing direct support to the installation commander in directing asset management, readiness and emergency management, fire and emergency services, environmental, housing, energy management, design, construction, maintenance, and repair activities on base facilities and utility systems for a $3.2 billion physical plant covering over 23,000 non-contiguous acres of real property. Tasks included the preparation, contracting and review of environmental assessments and impact statements. Performed environmental site assessments for proposed real estate developments. Managed land use and development for seven Naval facilities in the southeast. Engineer-in-charge for the preparation of a large military complex master plan. Prepared capital improvements plans. Operated Computer Aided Drafting and Design and desktop publishing computer systems. Managed various environmental programs such as pollution abatement, hazardous waste, spill prevention and response and underground storage tanks. Developed the underground storage tank program for the Navy in twelve southeastern states. Engineer-in-charge on contracts for storage tank compliance and soil and groundwater investigations valued at several million dollars.
