I have over 40 years of experience in administration, management, and various trade professions. My career began in the maintenance field in 1973 and was promoted into a leadership position in 1983. By August 1995, I was promoted to Maintenance Training, Project Manager to design and implement an internal electronic training program for the workforce. This training program was designed to improve and enhance employee’s technical skills, so they would be prepared for vendor training of the newly purchased Market Frankford rail vehicles.I continued utilizing my leadership skills as a trainer, consultant and community relation coordinator. In 2004, I had a unique opportunity to work for the School District of Philadelphia to addressing student health and wellness issues. This position provided me an opportunity to work with schools, governmental agencies, elected officials, universities, non-profits and private corporations. Through these relationships I was able to identify partnerships and resources to implement healthy initiatives in the district. A number of these programs have been nationally recognized. In June 2013, due to a financial crisis in the district 3800 positions were eliminated. In December of 2013, Community in Schools offered me the grant position of Life Skills Training, Project Coordinator. This position would coordinate over twenty schools in the train the trainer and implementation of Life Skills for 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes. "Botvin" Life Skills Training teaches students and making good decisions in reference to drug and tobacco prevention, self image and media exposure and dealing with stress and anxiety. It is a 30 year, research based curriculum that has demonstrated the ability to instill positive resiliency skills in middle grade students that last for six years.
