Employed as a VB/SQL developer on versions 1.0 and 2.0 of the Budget Workbench forecasting tool, an internal client/server project. The workbench used Visual Basic as a front end to SQL Server.

Provided technical support for Teradata, a large-scale, parallel-processing SQL database. As one of three product managers (not a management position), I assumed primary responsibility for network access to Teradata, including DOS, Windows, Macintosh, OS/2, and Unix platforms. Supported developers accessing Teradata using Gupta's SQLWindows, Microsoft.

Tukwila

Developed management information databases using Information Builders Focus under VM/CMS, including all phases from project viability assessment through implementation, and provided technical support for other Focus programmers. In October 1988 I received training as a VAX System Manager, a function I performed during the pilot phase of an office.

Developed and taught beginning classes in DOS and Lotus 1-2-3. Assisted users with the acquisition and use of personal computers, and with the use of Information Builders' Focus reporting tool on IBM mainframes.

Responsible for installation, user testing, and implementation of Focus releases under VM/CMS. Developed Focus databases, provided technical support to Focus application developers and end users, and maintained the user shell for the Focus environment. Provided PC consulting to end users.

Installed and managed user testing of new releases of Focus, SAS, and IFPS under TSO/ISPF, creating and maintaining user shells for all three using the PL/I-like CLIST language to power an ISPF full-screen interface. (Hey, it was hot stuff at the time.) I also provided Focus and DCF/Script consulting and helpline support, and created and maintained.

Supervised training for Printer Operations, developing procedures and training manuals for a variety of page and impact printers. Provided systems support and digitized forms design for Xerox 9700 laser page printers. Created a budget forecasting system in CLIST and ISPF Dialog Manager (I'm not making this up), which was ultimately used by the Operations.

Beginning as a Peripheral Equipment Operator, I was promoted to Computer Operator and then to Printer Operations Supervisor. In this capacity, I supervised six people on an 8 PM to 8 AM, Monday-Wednesday shift. Although our shift included the heaviest production volumes of the week, we consistently had the lowest error/rerun rate of any shift.
