Started out as a consultant for a year working on the VIPRE antivirus engine. The company decided to open shop in the Philippines and continued as a developer for the Core Engine Team . As an engineer, I architect software designs, prototype, implements code, and test modules. A proponent of design patterns and test-driven development, I was able to influence my colleagues not just to create code that works but that can also be unit tested via automated tools.

As a senior associate, my role is to design, implement, and test code based on a set of specifications. I have worked closely with the architect, project lead, QA lead, configuration manager, testers, and with my co-developers to ensure deliverables were met.

Assigned to be a Just-In-Time (JIT) engineer fresh from training, I was tasked to analyze malware sample coming from customers, reply to email queries regarding malware analysis, detection, file disinfection, and system cleanup. I also went to be an instructor in the Trend Micro Academy where soon to be AV engineers are trained before I was accepted to be an Antivirus Research Engineer. Being a AV Research Engineer, I am one of the highest point of escalation on malware detection and remediation. We work on cases beyond the Trend Micro technology can address at the time. This usually involves creating custom programs and tools in addressing an infection.
