Working with a region-wide team, I continue to ensure the city's CDEM organisation is fully functional through the development and implementation of training programmes and operational systems.Undertaking operational roles during an emergency event.Responsibilities include: •Preparing and delivering training for up to 150 council staff with an operational role during an emergency.•Preparing and delivering training for community volunteer groups with an operational role, including Red Cross, Search Dogs Otago, Victim Support and Community Advice Bureau.•Preparing and delivering training for Councillors and Community Board members with an operational role during an emergency.•Preparing and delivering presentations to community groups such as Lions, local clubs, Scouts and others on practical approaches to personal emergency preparedness.•Providing emergency preparedness advice to local businesses, early childhood centres and rest homes•Preparing and running exercises to test our Civil Defence Plan and the key functions within the Plan.•Maintaining and testing operational equipment.•Undertaking key roles within an Incident Management Team during an emergency event.

Member of the NZ IT&T Emergency Response Unit. We provide telecom support in major disasters (radio & digital communication).Participation in training delivery and exercises in the Pacific region.

Managing a multi-faceted operation including showroom staff, on-the-road salespersons, a team of service technicians and temporary special projects staff.

Staff management, maintaining a successful team by; selecting and hiring new staff, rostering for seven day operation, Organising and running regular staff training sessions. Staff appraisals and performance management through individual coaching. Preparing budgets, monitoring store performance and adjusting operations as required.
