Broadly, my duties include Project and team management designing, conducting, and analysing behavioral experiments; communicating results in reports, papers, and presentations (including national and international conferences); developing teaching materials and research software; and mentoring students and research assistants. In this position I have led projects, taught my lab members best practice in data science, and effectively worked at pace to manage multiple deadlines and projects. Recently, I developed my skills in Python for data science. This had led to opportunities to develop and present materials on R and Python (incl. pandas, NumPy) for Data Science at the Institute of Coding. Leveraging my research experience, I have often used these sessions to communicate the benefits of version control (Git/GitHub) and literate programming tools (Rmarkdown/Jupyter notebooks) to aid reproducibility. Indeed, these tools have been invaluable in my research to track and document work, along with allowing my code to be assessed by others.

In this position I created online language learning experiments to test theories of literacy acquisition. This project involved transcription and cleaning of rather messy data from human participants which required advanced statistical modelling. In this position I developed expertise in Bayesian multilevel modelling and mixture modelling using the R package brms. Work based on my analyses has been published in high-impact journal articles and I have presented it at interantional conferences.
