This role started primarily as a Java/Springboot role but exposed me to a wide range of on premise and cloud technologies. The development process was done in an Agile way whilst the team implemented a DevOps approach to delivering, maintaining and supporting products. During my time here I led two cross-functional multi skilled teams. One for adding new functionality to an existing Springboot application and the other to develop a large terraform project for the provisioning of multiple large environments. I was relied upon heavily to inform design on software, automation and networking related activities by other team members.Brief overview of duties.• Software design and documentation, writing clear code and tests to team standards.• Collaboration with other cross-functional teams within area and external customers.• Capturing customer requirements, questioning their need and managing expectations.• Designing and deploying automation solutions across multiple services.• Design and deployment of vmware and AWS resources and services.• Monitoring and troubleshooting of Kubernetes both on AWS and private cloud.

I progressed into this 2nd/3rd line role as the team grew. This enabled me to concentrate onenterprise infrastructure whilst providing a point of escalation for junior team members,regularly working with colleagues from the private sector as well as external contractors onboth short and long term projects. Due to the nature of the work within the centre, everydesign decision was made with security in mind and by adhering to strict guidelines. I oftendeputised for the Senior IT manager during leave. I regularly contributed towards andreviewed IT policy documents and maintained the internal documentation of the IT team.Brief overview of duties.• Management and monitoring of on-premise physical and virtual infrastructure.• Perform regular security audits to ensure continued network and information security.• Drafting and submitting changes when modifications may impact service levels.• Working with developers on bespoke applications to improve security and user experience.

This role was initially a Desktop support role but quickly grew as the initial team within the centre was very small. I had the opportunity to work on a full Windows domain deployment so early in my career. This included research into and troubleshooting many new technologies that I had little or no experience with.• Providing desktop support to centre users.• Supporting the deployment of a full Windows domain to an enterprise environment.• Deployment and monitoring of File and VM backup solutions to disk and encryptedtape targets.• Integrating application security with Active Directory.• Deploying HP rack mount servers, and building workstation and server images.
