Managed a territory consisting of approximately 220 independent commercial insurance agencies, representing the product lines of Markel Specialty. As a division of Markel Insurance Companies, a $5 Billion company, Markel Specialty includes niche specific retail insurance programs for Markel, Thomco, and FirstComp.

Successfully created and developed a unique restaurant concept from the ground up, including brand and concept design, menu development, site selection and contruction oversight, and procurement of equipment and vendors. As a hands on owner/operator, oversaw both front and back of house operations, led marketing and PR efforts, human resources, and all P&L functions. In a challenging economic environment, operating in a risky and competitive industry, reached profitability within the first six months of operations and saw year over year growth numbers of 65% from Year 1 to Year 2. With opening of second location in Allen, TX, became responsible for both locations, including managing a staff of 50 people and four reporting managers. Continued to operate as hands on owner/operator, responsible for all functions of daily operations.
