Assist persons with disabilities and older adults overcome barriers, exercise choice, direction and control in all aspects of community life. Provide direct services to consumers and service providers including information and referral, advocacy, peer counseling and independent living skills training. Manage multiple programs and services including: Aging and Disability Resource Center, Ticket-To-Work Program, Pre-Vocational Program, Part B Barrier Removal Program. Develop and oversee grants including Title III Safe Home Services to older adults, Bridgeport Temporary Personal Assistant Services and Ramp Program. Provide SHIP/CHOICES health insurance counseling, information and advocacy services on Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and other federal, state and private programs. Conduct community outreaches and education on Medicare and Medicaid topics. Perform consumer intakes; facilitate goal setting, and problem solving, document barriers and research solutions. Maintain consumer files and follow up on service delivery. Other duties include grant writing, report writing, conducting consumer reviews, and training, supporting and supervising advocacy staff, participating on comittees and community organizations, developing written policies and procedures for advocacy department and assisting the transition to a new data management system, CIL Suite.

Organized series of Statewide "Empowerment Conferences" (1991-94) that forged partnerships between individuals with brain injury, community organizations, and state agencies. Advocated on state and national level for passage of Americans with Disabilities act (ADA) and disability related legislation. Public speaking to brain injury organizations in the United States and Canada.

Provided advocacy, peer counseling, information and referral, and independent living skills training to individuals, as well as technical assistance and outreach on disability issues to community organizations and businesses. Facilitated formation of peer support/advocacy groups, and Circles of Support. Provided technical assistance and outreach on accessibility and disability issues to community organizations and businesses. Developed and conducted Disability Awareness Police Training for recruits and officers from Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Stamford Police Departments. Wrote grant for and developed videotaped in-service staff training series. Developed written policies and procedures for advocacy department on confidentiality, consumer rights, grievances, intake, record keeping, and quarterly and annual reviews. Designed and edited quarterly newsletter along with brochures, fact sheets, and other public information material. Participated on various state agency councils and non-profit boards.

Presided over development and establishment of non-profit center for independent living serving the Greater New Haven area. Responsibilities included representing the organization in the community, testifying before local and state legislatures, speaking with media (newspaper and television), overseeing board development and hiring of first executive director.
