About Glenn C. P.
January 2024 In addition to being an accomplished fundraiser and award-winning producer and director, I steward residential property sales in Southern AZ. Early in my career at HB Playwrights Foundation in Greenwich Village, the inimitable artist and teacher Uta Hagen instilled in me the meaning of creating and sharing unconditionally for the betterment of the community. Since then, I have alternated roles as a valued team member at great institutions like La Jolla Playhouse and The New York Botanical Garden and as a leader and manager at small but mighty companies like ion theatre. Whether I am hoping to inspire a great performance from an actor, sensitively stewarding support from a philanthropist, or providing the very best possible care and service to the home buyer or seller, I coach with emotional intelligence in the interests of empowering others and advancing community. I challenge myself to accept that change is inevitable—be it social, systemic or technological—and adapt accordingly on my journey as a life-long learner.
Listed skills include Art, Arts Administration, Directing, Drama, and 46 others.

Producing Artistic Director & Chief Development Officer
Building relationships for over a decade with colleagues, patrons, community influencers and stakeholders, I was the face of this bold and uncompromising theatre company alongside founding visionary, Claudio Raygoza. As I solidified an invested and active fund-raising board, tripled the subscriber and donor bases, and quadrupled the operating budget over a three-year period, I found myself acting several roles on a daily basis: liaison to agents and licensors, box office and volunteer manager, contract negotiator, costume designer, set painter, teacher and writer. Somehow, I was able to annually renew major gifts and institutional support from private foundations and city and county municipalities. In addition to administrative and development achievements, I was humbled to earn several nominations from the San Diego Critics Circle in multiple categories ultimately scoring awards for directing and producing including the rarely-bestowed recognition as San Diego’s Producer of the Year in 2010 and then receiving the Circle’s inaugural award for outstanding work at a small theater – a feat repeated a second time two years later – this time for an outstanding body of work.
Individual Giving Officer
This nationally-renowned regional theatre headed by Artistic Director Christopher Ashley has made a tradition of presenting wildly eclectic seasons of new and exciting work and launching such Broadway hits as 'Come from Away,' 'Memphis' and 'Jersey Boys.' In addition to helping curate meaningful experiences for the donor base at large, I closely stewarded the Inner Circle, a portfolio of over 150 patrons and trustees. Membership responded affirmatively to my call to participate in an ad-hoc campaign to make special gifts to help close a budget gap at fiscal year-end. One of my most cherished accomplishments here was that board prospects I carefully cultivated during my tenure are now enterprising trustees of the organization.
Development Director
Having run development at a independent school and human services agency, I was itching to get back to the theatre and knew of San Diego’s sterling reputation mainly through the impressive work of directors Des McAnuff of the La Jolla Playhouse and Jack O’Brien at the Old Globe. Recruited as their first development director, the intimate, provocative and culturally inclusive San Diego Repertory Theatre lured me from New York to develop a department focused on sustainability and growth. Nurturing and advancing relationships in the community, I increased annual funding by 15%, major donor membership by 30% and exceeded contributed income goals annually by 25%. A respected community advocate noted that I made a mark and that my work had elevated the theater’s brand and reputation.
Director Of Development
Looking to grow as a development officer and having upgraded to the director level at Mission Society, a colleague suggested I turn my eye to the world of independent schools where institutional advancement was experiencing tremendous growth. What excited me most about Trevor was that at a time relatively early in the tech revolution, every student in the school was provided with a laptop by the fifth grade. Within my first few months at Trevor, I luckily closed a $3M pledge from two very generous alumni parents and went on to raise millions to aggressively grow the school’s endowment. I feel that my time at Trevor really sharpened my development skills and I continue to be grateful for the time I spent there.
Director Of Institutional Advancement
Excited to have my first appointment at the director level at this human services agency serving Harlem and the South Bronx, and with the support of a truly strong and dedicated team, we diversified the board on multiple fronts, earned a first-time grant from the Robin Hood Foundation, partnered with Damon Dash and Roc-A-Fella Records on a gala at the Plaza, and produced a teen empowerment video directed by trustee, Dr. Ian K. Smith. Mission Society continues to do excellent work on behalf of its constituency.
Manager, Garden Patrons Program
Having co-founded with actor Ellen Barber a theatre committed to the development of plays by women, as well as working with the choreographer, Jennifer Muller, I decided to launch a lateral career as a fundraiser. At the Garden, I was educated in nuanced, sophisticated fundraising strategies, had a 90% renewal rate of the Garden Patrons and succeeded in prospecting and securing major gifts and new trustees. I collaborated closely with some of New York’s most deeply committed philanthropists and a large, hugely talented development team under the amazing president, Gregory Long, who led the transformation of a derelict park in the 70s to a major horticultural and scientific institution in the 90s. I still consider this rewarding experience to have been the formative launch of my fundraising career.
Director Of Special Projects
Collaborating with the gifted Muller, a former principal dancer with the famed José Limón Dance Company, we secured partnerships with foundations like Horace Goldsmith and AT&T. In a major coup for Jennifer and her vibrant and diverse troupe, we succeeded in acquiring first-time funding from Trust for Mutual Understanding to sponsor a tour of the Ukraine and Russia.
Artistic Director Of Hb Playwrights Foundation
By the time I took my MFA in Directing from Carnegie Mellon, I was a life-long admirer of the preeminent actor and teacher, Uta Hagen. Upon returning to New York from Pittsburgh and serving the likes of Naked Angels actors and directors at Café Loup, a Greenwich Village Bistro where I was working (to help quickly pay off my student loans!), it took me a long time to apply when HB Studio announced its interest in hiring someone to assume the reins of HB Playwrights Foundation – founded by Miss Hagen’s late husband, esteemed actor and director, Herbert Berghof. I feared I wasn’t qualified or worthy enough to be taken seriously by Miss Hagen (‘Miss’ was how she was universally addressed during my time with her). But ultimately, as Thanksgiving loomed, Miss Hagen gave her blessing with a literal embrace, and the extraordinary opportunity to take a master class in running a small Off-Broadway theater was thrust upon me. I consider myself lucky to this day. Suddenly, I was working with some of the theater’s finest artists and had the opportunity to advance the legacy of HB Studio and Playwrights Foundation with a revitalized board that included Saul Bellow, Vincent Canby and Horton Foote while producing exciting events and new work with the likes of Jeff Croiter, Donna de Matteo, Drea de Matteo, Arthur French, David Gallo, Earle Hyman, Anthony LaPaglia, Donna McKechnie, Charles Nelson Reilly, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara, and Fritz Weaver, among others. I learned a lifetime of lessons and felt myself grow exponentially under the tutelage of Miss Hagen – a national treasure – who continues to inspire artists to this day.
