At the end of the day, my job involves people. People and relationships are complicated. Coaching and sport can be hectic and stressful. I love leaning into the chaos - without being chaotic. Coaches are not a series of workshops but people who want to build relationships with others who understand their situation. I love coaches. I love spending time with coaches. Investing time and energy in their growth is what makes me tick.We know we all could be doing more to support those who are the face of sport to athletes, administrators and families, but it's difficult with limited time and strategy. The good news is that this is precisely what I do; work closely with sport leaders to support them in developing their coaches.Imagine a coach having their own coach. Someone who continually asks, “What would you like to learn more about?” and ends every conversation with “What do you need from me?” That’s me.This isn't about leaps and bounds of mind-blowing improvement over short periods. We measure success in nudges, many nudges; manageable, fun, calculated, planned (and even some unplanned) nudges, but we never take our eye off the ball. I’m a fire starter of learning, and then together, we manage raging infernos.I don’t stay up late pondering new and creative ways to support sport leaders to win awards, but if I happen to be a previous Coaching Association of Canada, Coach Developer of the Year, I might as well tell you, right? I’m the proud owner of a robust Rolodex - younger readers may have to Google what that is. Working in 29 countries has allowed me the incredible opportunity to learn what I believe is the essential consideration when partnering with coaches and organizations – making every effort to learn and work in their context. Context matters and I am dedicated to learning as much as possible about it. I have worked alongside gold-standard organizations such as the International Council for Coaching Excellence, Special Olympics International and the PGA of America. Still, I continue to invest in small local youth volleyball, soccer and curling clubs.I am a global leader and a local champion, and I anticipate our conversations will be remarkable.

Just by lucky timing, I was the President of the PGA of Canada in its 100th year - what a privilege. Having the opportunity to meet, network, work alongside and eventually become colleagues and friends of some of the golf and sports most influential (and most innovative) people was something that I will forever cherish. Delivering on the strategies and objectives of a multi-million dollar budget, with strong governance, detailed orientated policy writing, and an unwavering commitment to learning about and providing quality leadership are qualities I carry in all aspects of my work. These years solidified my understanding of why strong values, principles and planning are deal-breakers in successful organizations.
