I thought I was going to be the next David Attenborough. Fortunately for me, that didn’t work out – I didn’t fancy spending the next 20 years of my life chasing research grants instead of cheetahs. Whilst my Zoology degree never did see me face down a charging rhino, it certainly gave me a thorough grounding in statistics, quantitative analysis, and scientific rigour.Most importantly, it fed my passion for analysis – I love taking apart processes, models, and businesses, seeing how they work, and understanding how they can be improved.I decided to apply my analytical acumen to the financial sphere, and I’m glad I did. My journey as an analyst specialising in infrastructure projects has honed my skills in the development of operations and maintenance cost forecasts, efficient cost benchmarking, operations performance benchmarking and the assessment of organisational resourcing levels.My work as an analyst also introduced me to my other great passion: investments. Investing is one of the only realms where the proverbial ‘two men with a Bloomberg’ can compete against anybody – and come out on top due to skill, intelligence, and process, and that’s something I love.I’m always happy to chat about investing, infrastructure, business management, or hiking trails around Melbourne, so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
