The Engineering/Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Specialist has responsibilities in several key areas of Ingevity working with Corporate Engineering and SHE Teams. This role is responsible for driving key Engineering and SHE aspects of the capital project program forward for projects being planned and implemented across the company. The Engineering/SHE Specialist is also responsible for administering a comprehensive SHE program designed to eliminate injuries and occupational illnesses, ensure environmental compliance, and to advance cultural change at our headquarter (HQ) locations. These include the Ingevity Technical Center (ITC), and Innovation Center (IC) which include a number of laboratories, R&D facilities, and offices.

Directed project / program activities of SHE for continuous improvement of safety performance. Participated in Injury and illness managing processes and OSHA record keeping. Instrumental in the development and implementation of Site Safety Procedures for new $500M KEVLAR® manufacturing facility to develop and drive correct safety mindsets and behaviors. Engaged and interacted with local Fire Marshall and other officials to conduct tours of facility throughout construction process.• Developed and led Safety and High Performance Work System training sessions that provided solid foundation in DuPont® safety culture.• Managed Pre-Startup Safety Review Program. • Served as Element leader for Emergency Response on site PSM Team to manage the process and ensure requirements were met by auditing documentation. • Developed and implemented fire protection technical standard to provide guidance and information to site employees on all systems and equipment related to fire protection in and around the facility. • Led effort with corporate fire safety resource to perform structured emergency response assessment utilizing subject matter experts, process hazards analysis, and consequence analysis data, determining and establishing emergency response requirements for new unit.• Developed and implemented Kevlar® Confined Space Rescue Team, and provided functional guidance to rescue team members to ensure training and readiness to safely prioritize and manage confined space emergency events on the site. • Participated in technical review meetings with the project team on all matters related to fire protection for the new facility during the project planning stages. • Once facility operational served as shift coach (manager) for 20 operator shift to support and provide guidance to ensure safe day to day operations while producing standard quality product, as well as continuous improvement of both operators and processes on shifts. This role was part of the unit leadership group supporting business goals and objectives.

Engineering Polymer Specialist: Performed role of fully qualified operating technician in a High Performance Work System (HPWS) to support unit goals of safely producing quality product as well as performing basic mechanical and electrical work to ensure mechanical reliability of unit equipment. Fully qualified fork truck operator, scizzors-lift / man-lift, as well as track-mobile railcar mover. Qualified to load and unload chemical railcars and tank trucks, as well as in basic in-process and finished product laboratory functions. In addition to normal technician duties, also performed the following:• Member of Responsible Care Core Team facilitating all S.H.E. related programs. • Participated on PSM and Fire Protection first and second-party audits.• Developed and implemented Hytrel® Confined Space Rescue Team. Developed, implemented and facilitated safety training and procedures that provided functional guidance to rescue team members to ensure training and readiness to safely prioritize and manage confined space emergency events on the site. • Served as Element leader for Pre-Startup Safety Review on site PSM Team to manage the process and ensure requirements were met by auditing documentation and ensure data entry into tracking system.• Served as Site Fire Protection Leader, Emergency Response Leader, and Site Security Leader.

Performed role of fully qualified operating technician to support unit goals of safely producing quality product. This included but was not limited to, operation of machinery, clean-out and quality checks of equipment and product. also fully qualified fork truck operator. In addition to normal technician duties, also performed the following:• Served as Industrial Fire Brigade Shift Captain for 20 person shift emergency response group. This included tactical planning, guidance, and training for the shift. Continuous training and improvement for brigade members to ensure readiness to response appropriately and safely to unit emergency situations. Also served as trainer and participated on Confined Space Rescue & High Angle Rescue Team.
