I was the leader in identifying, planning, assigning and producing stories by the Melbourne newsroom for ABC digital, radio and television news services. Part of this process involved reviewing, assessing and sub-editing stories to ensure tight deadlines were met.I expanded the reach of ABC News online from its early development to the present, seeking out opportunities and value adding to material by providing links, vision and audio for stories and sites.As for people management, I built an enthusiastic news team that was trained to respond quickly to rapidly moving news situations.There were a number of events of significance that I managed for digital, television and radio coverage. These include the Bourke Street Mall and Flinders Street car/terror attacks, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, the Hazelwood mine fire and inquiry, state wide bush fire coverage, state and federal elections, annual sporting events including AFL football, cricket and tennis.Key Achievements:*Appointed Chief of Staff to oversee the successful amalgamation of the television newsroom at Ripponlea and the radio newsroom at Southbank into one entity.*Contributed to the development of ABC online news and social media usage.*Built an enthusiastic news team - coaching, guiding, directing and developing staff within a high intensity work environment.*Promoted positive relationships with the various levels of state and federal government, business, welfare and sporting organisations.*Helped build strong audience numbers for the 7pm television news bulletin and the steady rise in ABC digital/social media participation.
